HON. OGUNSUA GBOYEGA DIXON (OGD) CONGRATULATES HIS EXCELLENCY, HON. LUCKY ORIMISAN AYEDATIWA AND HIS EXCELLENCY, DR. OLAYIDE ADELAMI ON THEIR SUPREME COURT VICTORY*

In a momentous affirmation of democratic principles and judicial integrity, the Supreme Court of Nigeria has upheld the victory of His Excellency, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, as the duly elected Governor of Ondo State, alongside his Deputy, His Excellency, Dr. Olayide Adelami, MNI. This landmark decision reaffirms the overwhelming mandate freely given to them by the people of Ondo State in the November 16, 2024, gubernatorial election.

An esteemed chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Ifedore Local Government Area, Hon. Ogunsua Gboyega Dixon (OGD), has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Governor and his Deputy on this well-deserved judicial validation of their victory. He further applauded the resilience and steadfastness of the progressive government in its unwavering commitment to good governance and developmental strides across the Sunshine State.

The suit, instituted by the candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), His Excellency, Hon. Agboola Alfred Ajayi, sought to nullify the election on the grounds of alleged discrepancies in the name change of the Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami. The Supreme Court, in its final and binding judgment delivered on March 11, 2025, held that the appellants lacked the requisite legal standing to sustain their claims, rendering the case unsustainable. Consequently, the apex court dismissed the appeal and imposed a cost of ₦2 million on His Excellency, Hon. Agboola Alfred Ajayi, to be paid to each of the four respondents.

In his congratulatory message, Hon. Ogunsua Gboyega Dixon (OGD) described the judgment as a victory for democracy, the rule of law, and the collective will of the people of Ondo State. He stated:

"I extend my profound congratulations to His Excellency, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, and His Excellency, Dr. Olayide Adelami, MNI, on this resounding judicial triumph. This victory is not only for them but also for the good people of Ondo State, who have once again been assured that their voices, expressed through the ballot, remain supreme. It is a validation of the people's trust in the 'OUR EASE' development agenda, which continues to drive transformational governance in our dear state. I am confident that this administration will consolidate its strides in infrastructural advancement, economic prosperity, and social welfare for all."

Hon. Ogunsua Gboyega Dixon further commended the judiciary for upholding justice without bias, reinforcing the supremacy of due process, and ensuring that electoral legitimacy remains sacrosanct. He called on all political actors to put partisanship aside and join hands with the APC-led administration in moving Ondo State forward.

With this judicial seal of legitimacy, His Excellency, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, and His Excellency, Dr. Olayide Adelami, MNI, now stand on an unshakable foundation to continue delivering people-centric governance and driving Ondo State to greater heights.
