Nifemi Aregbesola Condemns Muhammad Abba Isa's Alleged Neglect of PWD Post-Election in Nation-building Efforts
Hon. Mrs. Nifemi Aregbesola, President of Nigerian Unique Mothers Leadership Initiative{Numli} and a vigorous advocate for People Living With Disability (PWD), has expressed her disappointment in Muhammad Abba Isa, a prominent figure among top echealon PWD in Nigeria, for allegedly neglecting PWD who contested in the 2023 General Elections.
In an exclusive interview with The People's Lens News Magazine in Abuja recently,Aregbesola criticized Isa for reportedly ignoring the needs and concerns of PWD who participated in the election process. She accused him of not picking their calls, refraining from reaching out to them, and failing to represent their interests effectively.
Aregbesola noted that Isa's apparent negligence is not only disheartening but also a direct violation of the trust placed in him by the PWD community, as well as a breach of his responsibility as an appointed representative of their interests. She expressed her concern that this neglect could have a lasting impact on the political and social integration of PWD in the country.
"Muhammad Abba Isa was appointed by the president to represent the interests of PWD, and it is unfortunate that he is not living up to this responsibility," Aregbesola said. "His alleged neglect of PWD who contested in the election sends a negative message about their value and capabilities, further marginalizing them in the nation's development efforts. Every member of the PWD on its National platform are painfully depressed and lamenting on this act of total neglect by its Representative, especially his confining himself incommunicado"
Aregbesola urged Isa to reconsider his approach and to prioritize the inclusion and empowerment of PWD in the country's nation-building efforts. She called on the general public, political parties, and government institutions to be more inclusive and supportive of PWD, in order to create an environment where everyone can thrive and contribute to the nation's progress.
